A record crowd at Watkins Glen International watched Denny Hamlin dart away from the field and hold off Martin Truex Junior to win Sunday’s Cheez-It 355. It was his first career road course win in the Sprint Cup Series. As heard on WEBO, Truex was all over Hamlin’s rear bumper during the final lap, but contact with Brad Keselowski sent Truex spinning into the wall on the final turn. Joey Logano grabbed second with Keselowski rallying to finish third. Track officials said they had the largest turnout in NASCAR history, and even had to open up previously-unused areas of the property to accommodate all of the weekend campers. Logano won Saturday’s Zippo 200 for the Xfinity Series. That series will race road courses two out of the next three weekends, starting this Saturday at Mid-Ohio in a race that will be heard live on WEBO. The Sprint Cup is off this weekend.
