It was a busy weekend for Syracuse University sports, as both the football and men’s basketball teams were in action on WEBO.
The football team won its seventh game of the season on Saturday, beating Rutgers 13-10 to stay perfect on the road in 2010. Freshman kicker Ross Krautman kicked the game-winning 48-yard field goal with just over a minute remaining to make the Orange bowl-eligible for the first time since 2004.
The men’s basketball team opened their regular season with a 68-46 win over Northern Iowa at the Carrier Dome on Friday night. Syracuse started sluggish but went on a 21-5 run to start the second half.
The basketball team was back on the court Sunday, taking down Canisius 86-67. It was the 831st career coaching victory for Jim Boeheim, giving his sole possession of fifth on the NCAA all-time win list.
Syracuse will play Detroit at 7pm Tuesday on WEBO.
