The Syracuse University football team has accepted an invitation to play in the inaugural bowl game at the new Yankee Stadium.
The Orange will face a representative of the Big 12 in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 3:30pm. It will be broadcast live on WEBO.
The Orange earned its first bowl bid since 2004 after a 7-5 regular season. The bowl game will be a homecoming for SU Coach Doug Marrone, a native of the Bronx. This will be the 23rd bowl appearance in program history. The Orange are 12-9-1 all-time in bowl games.
Syracuse was 5-1 at the old Yankee Stadium, including a 3-0 win over Pitt in 1923 in the first-ever college football game at the “House that Ruth Built.”
