There weren’t enough Rubber Duckies in Binghamton last night to keep the Rumble Ponies game afloat. Last night’s rained out game turns into a double header tonight against Akron beginning at 5:35.
Also from NYSEG Stadium, the Rumble Ponies won’t get the chance to host the 2019 Eastern All-Star Game, as Richmond Virginia has been chosen as the host city for that event. No big deal though, Binghamton will re-apply for the 2020 game.
We’re less than a month away from the Dick’s Open, and organizers are adding a few new attractions, like Yoga… on the first and tenth tee, before the final round of the tournament Sunday morning. A juniors clinic and Pro-Am will happen earlier in the week. Organizers continue to bring new ideas to the venue to create interest in the community. The Dick’s Open runs from August 14th through the 20th.
Meanwhile in Elmira, Elmira Pioneers owner Robbie Nichols’s bid to bring hockey back to the First Arena has been shut out be the Chemung County IDA. Nichols offer of $3.5 million to use the facility matched that of a previous potential buyer. County Executive Tom Santulli (San-tool-ee) says despite the absence of the Pioneers, other events will still take place throughout the year, including youth hockey.
