Weekend Sports: OFA loses to Forks while NV and SVEC win, Johnson wins NASCAR

The Owego football team lost a Section 4 Class B semifinal game 34-0 at Chenango Forks Saturday. As heard on WEBO, Forks led 13-0 at the half, and exploded for 21 points in the third quarter as they pulled away for the win. They will play Windsor for the Class B title on Saturday. Owego ends their season with a 6-3 record.

In Class C, Newark Valley and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor both won their semifinal games, setting up an all-Tioga County championship game. The Cardinals pounded Oneonta 69-19 while the Eagles edged Lansing 28-20. Newark Valley rolled to a 53-6 win over SVEC in the regular season. Their game is scheduled for 12pm Saturday at Union-Endicott.

In NASCAR, six-time series champion Jimmie Johnson won at Martinsville yesterday to qualify for the Championship Four. The Chase for the Sprint Cup will continue Sunday at Texas live on WEBO.
