Youth wrestlers in Tioga County took to the mats on Sunday looking to defeat more than just their opponent. Close to 250 wrestlers participated in this year’s Tioga Tigers Take Down Autism tournament. Youth wrestlers between ages 4 and 12 took part in the event, which saw half of the money raised during the tournament go toward Autism Research and Support, with the other half going to the Tioga Youth Wrestling program. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention report that one in 88 children have been identified as having autism. Experts are unsure of what is the exact cause of autism, but the money raised during Sunday’s tournament will hopefully work to help find the answer.
