If you’ve ever driven by the Tioga County Court House, Ronald E. Dougherty County Office Building, or Court Street Bridge, you may have noticed an abundance of flowers and other plants providing color to downtown Owego. The Tioga County Master Gardeners Program of the Cornell Cooperative Extension maintains those plant beds.
The Tioga County Master Gardener’s Program is staffed by volunteers who undergo 40-50 hours of training and then give back to the community. While the program is partially funded by local and state finances, the Master Gardener Program also holds plant sales and gardening workshops for a nominal fee.
If you’re interested in joining the Tioga County Master Gardener Program, any future workshops, or to sign up for the Master Gardener’s online newsletter “Farm and Garden,” you can call the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County at 607-687-4020 and ask for Barb Neal.
Barb Neal, a representative of the Tioga County Master Gardener Program, joined us on today’s WEBO Morning Show to tell us more. The full interview with Barb Neal can be heard below.
