Tioga County leaders are hoping the state will change its mind on the recent changes to Medicaid transportation funding. The Tioga County Legislature unanimously approved a resolution on Tuesday to send a letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state Department of Health, among other state leaders, urging them to reevaluate the changes, which called for Medicaid transportation to be changed from buses to private cabs, effectively cutting most of the funding for the Tioga County public bussing system. If the state were to allow Tioga County to control the Medicaid transportation responsibility, lawmakers said that they would continue the bussing system, which was used for twenty years prior to the change.
