Multiple fire crews responded to a horse barn fire in Nichols, NY yesterday afternoon. According to initial reports, the fire started at around 2:40 PM on East River Road. The blaze could be seen from miles away, according to eye-witness accounts, however, no animals were injured in the incident. A small brush fire started on a nearby island in the Susquehanna River, as a result of embers drifting from the horse barn fire by strong winds. Some units were on scene as late as 9:30 last night.
