The Tioga Central School District announced yesterday that Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural will make a donation of almost $300,000 for the next two school years. A budget was proposed last month with a tax levy of 30 percent. That budget was not passed and a new option — with a tax levy of 17 percent — was proposed. The motion was proposed with the idea that a donor would make up the difference. This solution will prevent extracurricular activities from being cut, while still working toward a tax solution. Jeff Gural was not at the press conference, but Jay Dinga of Tioga Downs said the donation is a personal donation from Gural, not through Tioga Downs. The voting for the proposed budget will take place on June 16th at the Tioga Middle School gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
