An interim Broome County Undersheriff has been appointed as Fred Akshar pursues the 52nd District State Senate Seat. 56-year-old Eric Janis of Endwell is a 34-year veteran of the New York State Police. He was the first individual interviewed by Broome County Sheriff Dave Harder. Janis took merely one day before deciding to accept his new position as interim Broome County Undersheriff. Harder and Janis had previously worked together for 14 years, and say that they work well together.
