The Broome County Budget for 2016 has been set, after County Executive Debbie Preston did not veto changes made to her proposed budget by the county legislature. The legislature’s changes focused on decreasing the tax levy from 2.21 percent, as proposed by Preston to 1.88 percent. The newly adopted 2016 budget for Broome County includes several new expenditures this year, including the addition of 13 new sheriff’s deputy positions, as well as an allocation of $100,000 to local organizations to help combat illegal drug use in the county.
