Authorities were dispatched to Broome-Tioga BOCES on Friday for a report of a student wielding a black handgun. Initial reports indicated that 16-year-old Michael King of Binghamton was showing off a firearm to fellow students in the men’s bathroom at BOCES, and then placed it in his waistband upon exiting. After a brief investigation, authorities determined that the fire arm was a BB gun, however, the orange tip had been removed, and it was almost an exact replica of a model 1911 handgun. Authorities charged King on a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon.
