Independent pharmacies in New York will now be able to sell Naloxone over the counter. Naloxone is a drug which temporarily blocks the effects of an opioid overdose allowing more time for patients to find medical attention. In December, CVS pharmacies were the first to be allowed to sell naloxone over the counter. Walgreens received approval to do the same in February.
