The 2016 Regional Special Olympics took place Saturday at Owego Free Academy. Around 500 athletes participated from all over Broome and Tioga Counties. More than 16 teams competed in field events. Some included sprints, softball throws, shot put, and long jump. The day ended with teams competing in relays. Competitors ranged in age from 8 to 80. Each event had three winners who were awarded with a medal.
