There will now be two candidates running for the 52nd State Senate seat in November. Sharon Ball, a former executive director of the Broome County Arts Council, will run on the democratic ticket in the general election. Ball was the executive director of the Broome County Arts Council for 11 years. She was also a former radio host for three decades. However, Ball has never run for public office. She will be running against incumbent Republican Senator Fred Akshar who took office in January.
