The 2016 high school football season comes down to this Friday, as Owego takes on Waverly in a huge rivalry game. The Indians and Wolverines are tied in the standings, meaning the team that wins will advance to the playoffs and a semifinal at Chenango Forks while the loser will be eliminated from contention. Both teams enter this week hot, as Owego has won four straight while Waverly has won three of their last four games. Tonight’s coverage will begin with the WEBO Pregame Show at 6:45pm.
In other games around Section 4: Tioga will play a Class D quarterfinal game at Groton tonight. The Tigers, winners of five straight sectional titles, lost there last week. Spencer-Van Etten/Candor will host Delhi tonight at Candor, and Newark Valley is off this week after receiving a forfeit from Whitney Point.
Saturday, it’s time for college football, as Syracuse looks to keep the momentum from their upset of Virginia Tech as they travel to Boston College. Pregame coverage from IMG will begin at 11:30am on WEBO.
Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series takes to the treacherous Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday in the final round of the Round of 12 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick are already in the Round of 8, and six more will join them after this Sunday. Motor Racing Network coverage will begin at 1pm on WEBO.
