Tioga Downs’ plans to renovate the Tioga Country Club golf course have been put on hold after the course has recently been declared an archaeologically-sensitive area. As a result, members of the New York State Historical Preservation Office must now conduct an archaeological dig which will come at the expense of Tioga Downs. In addition to the delay in work, the Tioga Industrial Development Agency cannot move forward with the PILOT tax abatement program at this time. Binghamton University has submitted a proposal to Tioga Downs to conduct the archaeological study.
