The Athens Area School District Board of Education discussed details of a $780,000 track and football field renovation project earlier this week. The proposed project would completely replace all football field turf and resurface the track. Administrators are also looking to purchase two specialized machines to properly care for the new turf. According to school board members earlier this week, the cost has already been included in the 2016-2017 school district budget. If approved, work on the school’s football field and track would be conducted next summer.
