Upstate Shredding will no longer be building a new scrap metal processing facility off of Route 434 in the Town of Owego. That decision was announced by Adam Weitsman, the owner of Upstate Shredding. Weitsman says that the plans for the new facility were scrapped after residents and businesses in that area continued to express concerns over a potential increase in noise levels and traffic congestion. Weitsman says that Upstate Shredding is still looking to build a new processing plant in Owego, but is once again in search of the right location.
