A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held yesterday at the Crown Cork & Seal manufacturing plant in Lounsberry. The 500,000 square foot facility currently employs 86 people with 100 more expected soon. The plant makes cans for beer, soda, and energy drink producers. Yesterday’s grand opening was celebrated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who said Crown invested $150 million to build the manufacturing plant, and decided to put it in Lounsberry after hard work by Tioga County’s Economic Development and Planning department and Industrial Development Agency along with more than $14 million in state grants and performance-based incentives. Crown is celebrating their 125th year in business, as the company began in Baltimore in 1892. Photos and video from yesterday’s grand opening event are available on the WEBO Facebook Page.
