In local sports, two baseball and softball teams are heading to the state semifinals. In baseball, Vestal and Seton both won on Saturday to advance to the state’s final weekend, while the softball teams of Binghamton and Maine-Endwell also advanced to the final four. The Patriots and Spartans both won state championships last year and will try to repeat this year in South Glens Falls. The baseball championships are in the Southern Tier, so Seton will play at Binghamton University Friday while Vestal will play at Union-Endicott. The winners will play Saturday at NYSEG Stadium. Both of Vestal’s lacrosse teams are also in the state semifinals. The boys play Wednesday while the girls will play Friday.
