The Tioga County Anti-Hunger Task Force received a check for more than $3,200 from the Owego Rotary Club yesterday during their press conference to begin Child Hunger Awareness Week. The check was the proceeds from the Rotary Club’s Run 2 Feed 5K that they held last month. Also yesterday, Tioga Middle School student Emily Bidwell talked about her family’s efforts to fight hunger. The 10-year-old received a grant last year and with the help of her brother and parents, they were able to grow and donate more than 350 pounds of produce to local food pantries. They have planted even more crops this year at Catholic Charities in Nichols. Emily will be a guest on the WEBO Morning Show later this month.
