The Tioga County Health Department is warning residents about the dangers of Fetanyl, and wants you to know that free Narcan kits are available at the Health and Human Services building on Route 38 in Owego. Fetanyl is an opioid that is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, and has been seen increasingly mixed with heroin and other drugs in local overdoses. Since it is an opioid, a person experiencing an overdose can be revived using Narcan, and you can get a free kit by calling the health department at 607-687-8612. You can also get Narcan from local pharmacies without a prescription, but you must pay a small fee. If you would like to help fight the drug epidemic, you can join the Tioga County Allies in Substance Abuse Coalition. Their next meeting is Tuesday, June 20 at 1pm at the Health and Human Services Building on Route 38.
