Friday evening New York State Police arrested 39-year-old Sandip Nijjar from Bramton, Ontario, Canada on Route 81 northbound. Niijar is alleged to have sideswiped a police cruiser with his tractor trailer, narrowly missing the Trooper himself. A description of the trailer was passed to other troopers on Route 81, and the man was stopped in Homer. He was determined to be driving while intoxicated; He refused a breath test and was charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated as well as the traffic violations of Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and Failure to Move Over for an Emergency Vehicle. Bail was set at $2,500.
