The New York State Police conducted a Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign and issued nearly 10,000 tickets statewide over the four-day stretch.
In the Southern Tier, the state police issued 845 tickets over the holiday weekend, from Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1.
Of those tickets, 346 were for speeding, 41 for seatbelt violations, 37 for the move over law and 18 for distracted driving.
There were also 17 DWI arrests during the enforcement campaign, which was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
