A former Elmira Pioneers player has passed away after a battle with leukemia.
Former Pioneers outfielder Eddie Kaufman passed away on Tuesday. He was just 20 years old.
Kaufman was diagnosed with the disease last October. He was receiving treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Kaufman played for the Pioneers in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League during the 2024 season. He had 14 hits and 17 RBI during his one season in Elmira.
The Throop, Pennsylvania native played college baseball at Roanoke College in Virginia.
