The Harpursville man convicted in the death of a child back in 2023 is set to be released on parole.

On Jan. 1, 2023, 13-year-old Brennan Loveless was riding his bike along Route 7 in the Town of Colesville when he was struck and killed by a truck.

The truck was being operated by 34-year-old Bradley Law, who was arrested and eventually sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison in connection with the crash. He later recevied a total of 2 2/3 to 8 years after being arrested on domestic violence related charges.

Law is now scheduled to be released on parole at the beginning of 2026.

Both Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar and Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti have blasted the parole board’s decision.

Here is Akshar’s statement:

“Our governor-appointed New York State Parole Board continues Albany’s priority of putting criminals before crime victims by releasing this child killer back into our community.
Despite this misguided failure of justice, the collective resolve of our men and women of law enforcement remains unwavering. We will continue to protect, serve and do everything we can to ensure those who break the law are held accountable on behalf of their victims and the people of our community.
Our prayers and support remain with Brennan’s entire family during this time of disheartening news.”
