Pilot suffers minor injuries as plane crashes, catches fire in Towanda

A single engine plane crashed and caught fire at the Bradford County Airport over the weekend.

According to The Daily Review, the accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The plane left the runway and ended up in a culvert, where it caught fire and was completely destroyed.

The pilot was able to escape the plane without assistance, but he did suffer minor injuries. There were no other passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Firefighters from Towanda, North Towanda, Wysox and Monreoton responded to the scene.

The airport was closed for a short time following the crash. The incident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration and Pennsylvania State Police.
