An Elmira man pleaded guilty in Chemung County Court to causing the accident that killed a motorcyclist and caused serious injuries to his passenger.
Blake Hable pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the second degree and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of alcohol and drugs.
According to police, Hable was driving a pickup truck on Grand Central Ave. in Elmira Heights on July 22, 2025 when he turned into the path of a motorcycle being operated by John T. Simpson with his wife as a passenger.
The crash killed Mr. Simpson, who was 27 years old.
Hable has no prior criminal history. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 3.
