New Details Released in Wellsburg Hayride Crash

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office says 16 people were involved in Sunday’s Wellsburg hayride crash, including a 16-year-old driver from Gillett. Investigators say the tractor developed a mechanical problem and smoking brakes, all 15 wagon riders were ejected, and the driver was pinned and dragged before the tractor stopped against a tree. The sheriff says the driver was the only person still hospitalized Monday and remained in critical condition. The investigation continues.
