A Horseheads woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole funds from a local non-profit organization.
According to the New York State Police, 58-year-old Karen L. Curtis has been charged with grand larceny in the third degree, which is a Class D felony.
An investigation began after members of a local non-profit group reported suspected fraudulent financial activity involving their treasurer.
An audit revealed that more than $11,000 had been taken by Curtis through unauthorized checks and credit card transactions starting in 2023.
Curtis turned herself in on the charges and she was released. She will return to the Big Flats Town Court in April.
