The splash pad project at Brand Park in Elmira is moving forward.

The Elmira City Council approved a $12,000 contract Monday with Fagan Engineers and Land Surveyors.

The splash pad will replace the former Brand Park pool that was torn down last January. The pool was built in 1926 and fell into disrepair before permanently closing in 2006.

The new splash pad project will use federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.

City officials hope to complete the project this summer.
