A woman is suing the Athens Area School District over sexual abuse by a math tutor more than 20 years ago.
The victim, who has been approved by the court to remain anonymous, claims Jason Isbell used his position with the district to groom her and initiate a sexual relationship.
Isbell was employed by the Athens Area School District from 2003 to 2008. He was charged in 2008 with two counts of indecent assault, four counts of corruption of minors and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in connection with the abuse of the plaintiff and one other victim.
In 2009, Isbell pleaded guilty to two count of indecent assault, four counts of corruption of minors and five counts of statutory sexual assault.
The lawsuit claims the school district failed to protect her from sexual abuse.
The school district has not filed a response to the allegations at this time.
