A candidate for Chemung County Executive is challenging incumbent candidate Chris Moss to a debate before this month’s Republican primary.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Mark Margeson challenged Moss to a debate on Thursday from 7 to 8 pm at the Ill Eagle Taphouse in Elmira.
In the post, Margeson said the voters deserve to have their questions answered in person and in public.
Moss responded in a Facebook post that he is focused on doing the work of Chemung County and not political theatrics.
Moss also stated that he won’t participate in debates organized for the purpose of boosting a challenger’s visibility.
Here is Margeson’s complete statement:
“We’ve heard all the talk around town and it is now the moment you all have been waiting for… it’s debate time! We are officially challenging Chris Moss to a debate Thursday (6/11/26) from 7-8:00pm at Ill Eagle Taphouse! You deserve to have your questions answered in person and in public. So we are inviting everyone to attend and ask those questions! We hope to see you all (and Chris Moss) there!”
Here is Moss’s complete statement:
Early voting will run from Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, June 21. The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 23.
