The man who is behind bars for the rape and murder of a 90-year-old Corning woman is now facing new charges.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Jonathan Rivaldo has been charged with introducing dangerous contraband into a correctional facility and criminal possession of a weapon.
Rivaldo is accused of possessing a item that had been fashioned into a cutting instrument while being held in the Steuben County Jail.
Corning Police arrested Rivaldo on July 13th and charged him with first degree rape, first degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence and intimidating a victim.
The victim passed away a week after the alleged assault and a Steuben County Grand Jury indicted Rivaldo for murder in the second degree, two counts of predatory sexual assault and five more counts of burglary.
