New York State Police say a response to a report of suspicious activity at an apartment on Kattellville Road in the Town of Chenango led to an arrest involving weapons and suspected narcotics.
Investigators identified the defendant as 35-year-old Craig Michael Brown. Police allege that Brown possessed several assault weapons, a noncompliant large-capacity ammunition magazine and a pistol without the required permit. Troopers also reported finding suspected narcotics during the investigation.
State Police further allege that a gun had been fired inside the residence. Brown faces multiple weapons charges, along with reckless endangerment and a controlled-substance charge. The specific charges reflect accusations filed by police and are not proof of guilt.
No injuries were reported in the information released by State Police. Authorities did not announce additional arrests or provide further details about what prompted the original suspicious-activity call.
Brown is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in court. The case will proceed through the local court system.
