New York’s online and telephone unemployment-insurance services are temporarily unavailable while the state completes a major system upgrade.
The New York State Department of Labor says the work began at 5 p.m. Monday, November 2, and is expected to take nine to 12 days. During the upgrade, customers cannot file new claims, submit weekly certifications or access their online accounts. Benefit payments will also be delayed.
The department says customers will be able to file or certify for all benefits due once the new system launches. Claimants should keep track of the weeks they need to certify and check the Department of Labor’s unemployment page for current service information.
