The Chemung County Legislature filled a vacancy during a meeting on Monday.
Joseph Atkinson was approved to be the new legislator for the county’s fourth district, which represents parts of Horseheads and Big Flats.
Atkinson will replace legislator Joseph Brennan, who served for 19 years before stepping down in December to serve on the Horseheads Town Council.
Atkinson’s term will run through the end of this year.
