A dummy was found in the bed of an inmate at the Elmira Correctional Facility earlier this month.
A nurse and a National Guardsmen were delivering medication to the inmate when they noticed the dummy made up of a t-shirt stuffed with a pillow, a hat, pants and sneakers.
A search of the prison found the inmate in the mess hall.
The inmate was placed on watch in his cell during the investigation.
The inmate is serving a seven-year sentence for assault out of Onondaga County.
