The Village of Waverly and Town of Barton are discussing the possibility of building a joint Department of Public Works facility following a fire in August which completely destroyed the Village’s DPW building. The Town of Barton says that it’s also in the market for a new DPW building, as its current building was built in the 1950s and has been outgrown. Village of Waverly Mayor Dan Leary and Town of Barton Supervisor Richard Cary say that the possibility is little more than discussion right now. There are still many uncertainties such as where the joint facility could be located and how to fund the endeavor.
