The Broome County Health Department found multiple code violations from the Broome County Correctional Facility’s food provider Trinity and the inmate kitchen staff.

Over 300 inmates recently became infected with Salmonella during an outbreak at the correctional facility.

Chicken salad served at the jail tested positive for Salmonella.

According to WBNG-TV, health department officials said they observed numerous instances of potentially hazardous food that were improperly refrigerated and another violation for food not being checked for temperature.

The chicken salad is still the only food that has tested positive for Salmonella.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
