A woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Broome County has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. 23-year-old Ashley Carnevale was sentenced Tuesday morning for charges of manslaughter and attempted assault. She and her husband, Anthony Carnevale, were involved in a home invasion and shooting in Windsor back in 2009. Jean Clark of Windsor was killed in the incident, and another man, Ethan Button, was seriously wounded. Ashley Carnevale was convicted of murder in 2011, but an appeals court ordered a new trial due to problems with police interrogation and ineffective counsel. Instead, Carnevale opted for a plea deal, pleading guilty to manslaughter and assault in May. Last month, a Broome County judge lowered the assault charge to attempted assault. Her sentence also included five years of post-release supervision. Her husband is currently serving 25 years to life for murder.
