A Binghamton woman was killed Saturday evening in Endwell after being struck by a train. The incident took place shortly after 6 o’clock Saturday near the East Main Street and Hooper Road tracks. The woman has been identified as 38-year-old Holly Nalepa, and New York State Police say she was laying on the tracks alone. The Canadian Pacific Train was heading eastbound when the crew onboard first noticed Nalepa on the tracks, and at that point they gave several warning signals for her to get off the tracks. The engineer applied the brakes but was unable to bring the train to a stop before she was struck. The conductor called 911, and State Police, the Endwell Fire Department, and a coroner all responded to the scene. Police say that Nalepa’s address is listed as the YWCA on Hawley Street in Binghamton. The investigation is ongoing.
