A man passed out behind the wheel after he began choking on his coffee this morning. 55-year-old Ricky Kie of Castle Creek was heading southbound on Airport Road in the Town of Maine around 7:30 this morning when he choked on his coffee, passed out, and crashed his pick-up truck. According to police, the truck crossed the center line, went off the road and took out a fire hydrant. The truck crossed onto Upper Stella Ireland Road before just narrowly missing a tree. Kie was semi-conscious following the crash and was taken by Union Ambulance to Wilson Hospital for treatment of head injuries.
