A tractor trailer accident and fluid spill caused part of I-81 to be shut down. I-81 south from exit 8 for Whitney Point to exit 9 for Marathon was shut down late last night for 5 1/2 hours. The road was closed so crews could safely remove the tractor trailer and clean up a hydraulic fluid spill. James Thorn of Susquehanna suffered a medical problem that caused him to lose control of the tractor trailer. The Broome County Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to the scene of the accident just after 2 a.m. this morning. I-81 has now been reopened to all traffic.
