Emergency crews rescued three people stranded on an island in the Susquehanna River near Harold Moore Park in Vestal late Thursday night.
The Endicott Fire Department said responders were dispatched at about 11:10 PM as part of the Battalion 3 Water Rescue Team. Boats from the Endicott and Vestal fire departments navigated the river with assistance from New York State Police.
All three people were brought aboard an Endicott rescue boat and returned to the riverbank. Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad paramedics evaluated and treated the group at the scene for cold-weather exposure.
Endwell firefighters also supported the operation from shore. No additional injuries were reported.
