The Broome-Tioga BOCES Autobody Repair program had a helping hand in putting on the finishing touches on a bobsled used in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The autobody repair students and instructors worked on painting the bobsled used by the Australian bobsled team, which will see its first action on February 22nd, next Saturday, when the Australian bobsledders take part in the four-man heats, with the medal competition on Sunday. The project came to be because Randy Will, who at the time, was a coach for the Australian team, is actually an Endwell native, who competed for the U.S. Olympic team in the 1992 and 1994 games. Will’s wife, Lori, attended BOCES in the 1980’s. Will has since left the Australian team to help the U.S. national team. The bobsled was supposed to be returned to BOCES last month for a final paint job, but due to time constraints, the bobsled was shipped to Russia before that could happen. Will praised the work that BOCES did on the sled.
