Broome County is awarding $800,000 from opioid-settlement funds to eight organizations for prevention, treatment, recovery and harm-reduction work.
County officials announced the third round of awards Tuesday. The projects are intended to expand local services and address the continuing effects of the opioid epidemic.
The county said its first two funding rounds distributed more than $2 million to 10 organizations. The settlement money comes from legal agreements with opioid manufacturers and distributors and must support approved remediation work.
County officials said the new awards were selected through an application and review process focused on community needs and measurable impact.
