The Endless Mountains Heritage Region says it awarded $70,000 to a dozen projects supporting outdoor recreation and historic preservation across Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. The awards were announced during the organization’s annual meeting at the Montrose Bible Conference on October 14.
EMHR said 24 projects applied for its 2026 partnership grants, with 12 selected for funding. The organization directs residents to its partnership-grants page for the full breakdown of recipients and projects. Executive Director Cain Chamberlin also announced that EMHR received a $347,400 Community Conservation and Partnerships Program grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The state grant will support the heritage region’s operations and projects in 2027.
The annual meeting also reviewed EMHR programs from the past year, including outdoor-recreation events, masonry workshops and Destination Freedom programs. Board President David Palmer, who will complete nine years of service and leave the board at the end of 2026, was recognized for his work with the organization.
Representatives also discussed EMHR’s partnership with the Waverly Community House to expand Destination Freedom: Underground Railroad Walking Tours into the four-county region. The final scheduled tour of 2026 is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24, in Towanda. EMHR said registration was nearly full and that Destination Freedom tours are expected to resume in May 2027.
The Endless Mountains Heritage Region works through local partnerships to support heritage, culture, natural resources and outdoor recreation across the four counties. More information about its grants and programs is available through the organization’s website.
